Pompey see off Rovers

Portsmouth battled to a win over Blackburn despite almost blowing another two-goal lead.

Pompey were 2-0 up against AC Milan on Thursday but squandered the advantage with a late collapse that allowed the Italian giants to draw level.

It looked like a repeat performance in the Premier League when brilliant strikes by Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe put Pompey ahead only for defensive wobbles to cancel out their efforts.

Matt Derbyshire dragged one back for Blackburn with a simple header in the 62nd minute.

And brilliant Turkish veteran Tugay pulled Rovers level four minutes later, hitting a 25-yard strike as Pompey's shaken defenders backed away.

It took a rare goal from substitute Sean Davis gave Portsmouth their first home win under new boss Tony Adams.
