Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones 'in tears'

Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones says she was in tears for a week as the cast filmed their final scenes for the BBC1 comedy.

Jones, who plays tough Nessa and also co-wrote the show, said her co-stars James Corden who plays Smithy and Joanna Page who plays Stacey were also blubbing as they played their roles in the award-winning series for the final time.

She said: "It sounds silly I know, but it's been a big part of our lives for the past three years.

"In the final week me and Jo Page just couldn't stop crying. We were pathetic and we looked like frogs. And on the last day me and James were awash."

The third and final series of the feelgood programme is to be screened later this month.

Jones said she and co-writer Corden were now aiming to write a movie, although she said it will not feature the characters from the series.
