Fifa to rule on Vidic ban
Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is waiting to find out if he will be suspended for his Club World Cup red card.
Vidic was sent off for elbowing LDU Quito striker Claudio Bieler during United's 1-0 win in the Club World Cup final in Yokohama, Japan.
Tournament organisers Fifa will review the incident and decide if Vidic should be suspended from the Champions League tie against Inter Milan in the New Year.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Vida is disappointed but he gave the referee no option.
"He didn't swing an elbow but he gave the referee no chance. He was correct to produce the red card.
"It was a soft sending off. But it depends how Fifa interpret it and how Uefa act in terms of the information they get. We have been informed if there is a suspension it will be European Cup."
