Winehouse won't face 'punch' probe
Amy Winehouse will not face an investigation after she appeared to throw a punch at a member of the crowd at Glastonbury.
At the end of her set at the festival, the Camden-based singer climbed down to the pit in front of the Pyramid stage to meet fans during set closer Rehab, and scuffled with an unseen reveller.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said no complaints of assault were received after Winehouse appeared to lash out at the fan.
Earlier, the Grammy-Award winner could not resist pining for her imprisoned husband Blake Fielder-Civil, telling the audience at Worthy Farm, in Pilton, Somerset, "my husband is out of jail in two weeks".
Winehouse, dressed in a blue sequin dress, seemed to be on top form despite fears over her health.
She sang in front of 80,000 fans during an hour-long set which included hits Tears Drying On Their Own, Back To Black and You Know I'm no Good.
Festival organiser Michael Eavis said: "It was such a huge crowd watching her and I think she became a superstar last night." He added that Winehouse had asked him to let her headline the event next year.
Meanwhile, the controversial choice of US rapper Jay-Z to headline the event proved to be a masterstroke by Eavis.
Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher had called hip hop at Glastonbury "wrong" and traditionalists in web chatrooms had said they would have preferred a band like Radiohead, while critics also blamed the rapper for slow ticket sales.
But in a nod to Gallagher, the Grammy award-winner - who is married to singer Beyonce - took to the stage to the strains of the Mancunian band's hit Wonderwall, before running through a repertoire of his own hits, including Hard Knock Life.
He asked the crowd: "They say you don't want me here, Glastonbury. Now tell me, where is the love?"
The question was answered by huge cheers, whose only disappointment was that Beyonce did not make an appearance, although she watched her husband from back stage.
