Andre Agassi has defended his decision to publish the fact that he took crystal meth during his tennis career and then lied to the authorities to avoid a ban.
The former Wimbledon champion reveals his former drug use in his autobiography Open.
Some have criticised his decision to tell the truth 12 years after he got away with telling the powers that be his drink had been spiked.
Agassi insists: "I can't tell my story without telling my story. It wasn't an option for me to do a book that was a fraud of who I am or what I've been through."
The 39-year-old also believes drug testing in tennis is now water-tight and does not think he would have fooled the authorities today.
