Kylie performs at £15m party

Pint-sized pop star Kylie Minogue has performed at a £15 million party to celebrate the opening of the world's most expensive hotel.

The knees-up at the £1 billion Atlantis, The Palm hotel complex in Dubai was held for more than 2,000 guests and included a massive fireworks display almost ten times the scale of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.

Celebs at the star-studded event included Robert DeNiro, Mary-Kate Olsen, Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, Agyness Deyn, Charlize Theron, Rhys Ifans, Jade Jagger, Sarah, Duchess of York, Dame Shirley Bassey, Janet Jackson, Michael Jordan, Boris Becker and Lily Allen.

Minogue is rumoured to have pocketed anything from £1 million to £3 million for her gig and opened her 60-minute set with On A Night Like This. Dressed in a Jean-Paul Gaultier combo, comprising of black jodhpurs and a gold top, she finished with I Should Be So Lucky.

Guests dined on signature dishes prepared by Atlantis' multi Michelin-starred chefs, Santi Santamaria, Michel Rostang, Giorgio Locatelli and Nobu Matsuhisa, before heading to the Royal Afterglow party with Lohan's girlfriend, DJ Sam Ronson.

Owned by South African billionaire Sol Kerzner, Atlantis, The Palm is a 1,539-room, ocean-themed resort situated on the man-made, palm-shaped island of Palm Jumeirah.
