Del Toro brings Che to France
Benicio Del Toro has joined director Steven Soderbergh in France for the premiere of The Argentine.
Based on the life of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, the first part of Soderbergh's two-film project had its world premiere at Cannes in May.
The Puerto Rican actor said the legendary rebel was still relevant because "the things that he fought for in the late 1950s and mid 1960s are still relevant today".
He added: "I think he did not hide behind curtains, he said what he believed in, he stood up for the forgotten ones."
When asked why he made the film, Soderbergh said: "I needed to make the film, and that is a different feeling. I felt like, if I am worth anything, I have to say yes. I can't say no."
The Argentine is released in the UK on January 2.
