Peru locals lay claim to lost Inca city

A team of Peruvians are claiming that they have found the legendary golden Incan city of Paititi.

According to legend, the city was filled with temples, riches and gold.

Ancient texts say the citadel lay east of the Andes somewhere in the rainforest between Brazil and Peru.

A team of explorers uncovered the ruins in dense jungle near the town of Kimbiri.

Experts say the architecture is relatively advanced with perfectly cut high walls

The city covers an area of about 40,000 square metres, comprising of tunnels, altars and ceremonial towers within it.

The ruins will now be studied by archaeologists to see if it really is the lost golden city.
