Seeing by lamb-light

An artist has launched a range of lamps made from distended sheep's stomachs.

Julia Lohmann buys the entrails from her local butcher for £5 a pop.

She dips the honeycomb-shaped stomach linings in preservative before blowing them up with balloons and fitting them with light bulbs, creating a £250 designer lamp.

Lohmann has used animal parts before, fashioning a sculpture called Lasting Void from the carcass of a calf.

She says she wants to make people think about our relationship with animals rather than just mindlessly consuming them.

The glowing bellies can be seen at the London department store Liberty from September 19 to October 19.
