Song for a six pence

A group of construction workers in Canary Wharf are trying to sing their way out of the recession.

The labourers started a band to sing away the credit crunch blues after reading negative newspaper headlines.

Guitarist Steve Wells described it as a special experience singing in the very heart of Britain's financial centre: "I'm really enjoying it. In the middle of the credit crunch in the middle of all these buildings, it's fantastic. We're singing through the crisis and making the most of it."

They're called Canary Wolf and their best known song credit crunch is the brainchild of lead singer Richard Bray: "The credit crunch was everywhere even in the paper back in May when we wrote the song, so we built the song around that."

Canary Wolf are making some money off their single and all the proceeds will go to charity.
