Fiennes relaxes after Everest triumph
Sir Ranulph Fiennes is relaxing in Kathmandu after becoming the oldest Briton to scale Mount Everest.
Fiennes, 65, reached the 29,035ft (8,850m) summit of the world's highest mountain last week and said the final ascent had been "quite quick".
He added: "It was cold, there was a wind and we wanted to take a photograph of us with our flag for our cancer charity but it was very difficult."
This was Fiennes' third attempt on the mountain. His attempts in 2005 and 2007 were unsuccessful.
He has been climbing to raise money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care foundation to honour his wife and sister, who both died of cancer.
Clear weather and low winds on Mount Everest last week allowed more than 100 climbers to scale the peak from the Nepalese side.
