Madonna turns film-maker

Superstar Madonna has followed in the footsteps of her director husband Guy Ritchie by making her first film.

The queen of pop has got behind the camera for her directorial debut with Filth and Wisdom.

And it looks like the short film is likely to have something for everyone as it is penned as a comedy, drama, musical and romance.

The autobiographical work will bring some of the most colourful characters from the singer's past to the big screen.

British actor Richard E Grant stars as one of them. He said: "I play a poet, a blind writer who's based on her dance teacher."

The Withnail and I star also revealed what it was like to have Madonna as a boss: "She's very exacting, very clear about absolutely everything, full control, as you would expect. She's the one."

Filming of the feature was completed in May and took in various London locations, including Peckham and Exmouth market.

The film will also feature gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello, who performed with Madonna at Live Earth.

It's been rumoured that Filth and Wisdom will be showcased at the Sundance Film Festival early next year.
