Woman killed in police car smash
An Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation is underway after a 61-year-old woman was killed in a police car smash.
The woman died on Saturday night in Bromley, south-east London, when it appears she was hit by a marked police car in Homesdale Road.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, and has not yet been formally identified.
IPCC officers immediately launched an investigation, and the patrol car's data recording system is now being analysed.
Mike Franklin, IPCC Commissioner, said: "I send my deep sympathies to the family of the deceased at this difficult time. The IPCC will carry out a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this tragic incident."
A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on the woman's body on Sunday and an inquest will open in due course.
