Kate Winslet honoured at Bambi Awards in Germany

Kate Winslet has accepted the 2009 Bambi Award for Best International Actress.

The star returned to the German film studio where she made Oscar-winning film 'The Reader' to collect the gong.

She told press: "I'm very, very excited to be a part of this huge celebration. I didn't really know that the award ceremony was as big as it is, as prestigious as it is and it's very exciting to be here."

Other winners included Shakira who collected an award for International Pop and boxing duo the Klitschko Brothers were also honoured in the sport category.

This year's ceremony also paid tribute to the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
