Rap star Will.i.am is set to release a new song celebrating Barack Obama's victory in the US presidential election.

The song, It's a New Day, which will be released online, is the singer's third track about Obama.

The Black Eyed Peas singer worked throughout election night to finish the song said it was a tribute to the American people.

The 33-year-old has been a prominent supporter of Mr Obama in the election race.

The song also features actress Scarlett Johansson, Herbie Hancock and Lewis Hamilton's girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger.

The musician, who scored a top ten hit with Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole in April, spent part of election night in Chicago, where Mr Obama delivered his victory address.
