Steven Tyler 'quits Aerosmith'

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has reportedly quit the group after nearly 40 years.

The Walk This Way star let his bandmates know in an interview posted online, according to guitarist Joe Perry, who said the rest of the group were shocked and disappointed by the news.

He was quoted as saying: "Steven quit, as far as I can tell. I don't know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago and saw online that Steven said he was going to leave the band."

"Obviously he hasn't been giving 100 per cent to this thing for a long time. He's obviously had this planned for a long time. To disregard his brothers to the point where we have to find out about it on the internet - it's like: 'See you later, Bud.'

"I still care for him as a person, or at least the person I used to know. But things change."

Perry said relations between Tyler and the rest of the group had been strained for some time.
