After a string of mistakes by Heurelho Gomes, Tottenham goalkeeping coach Hans Leitert has left the club.

Leitert was appointed by manager Juande Ramos in the summer and Gomes has since made several mistakes that have led to Tottenham conceding goals.

New manager Harry Redknapp has shown his support for Gomes and decided to dispense with Leitert's services.

A Spurs statement read: "We should like to thank him for his contribution and wish him well. An announcement regarding a new appointment will be made in due course."

Despite Gomes's mistakes, he is expected to play against Blackburn on Saturday.

Redknapp said: "He's our number one goalkeeper so he's got to do the job. We're relying on him heavily."
