Murray through to the Wimbledon quarter-finals

Andy Murray has claimed victory against Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka in the fourth round at Wimbledon.

Murray edged a five-set thriller to advance to the quarter-finals, winning 2-6 6-3 6-3 5-7 6-3 in a match which finished at an unofficial time of 10:39pm under the new roof on Centre Court.

It was comfortably the latest match ever played at Wimbledon and Murray said: "That was pretty special.

"I thought Stan played a great match. The standard he set at the start of the match was very tough to keep up with. I had a lot of chances in the fourth set and didn't take them. I was getting tired towards the end and I'm pretty sure this is now the latest finish at Wimbledon so it's great.

"It was tough, he was playing great, I had my chances but he came out with some big shots and I got a little bit tentative sometimes and in five-set matches there are momentum shifts, but I stayed tough."

Asked about the atmosphere, with Centre Court almost full despite the late hour, Murray added: "It was great, always when you play indoors the atmosphere is great but when you have 15,000 supporting you it makes it extra special, so thanks a lot.

"I'll have a pretty deep sleep tonight after that one and I look forward to the next round against (Juan Carlos) Ferrero.

"After a match like that you take a lot of confidence and I'll try and recover as best as I can."
