Bruno tells Brown 'tight slacks' will win election

Sacha Baron Cohen's latest incarnation Bruno has poked fun at Prime Minister Gordon Brown's fashion sense.

Baron Cohen was in character at the premiere of his latest film, Bruno, which is about the American exploits of an outrageous gay Austrian TV presenter.

Bruno suggested that the beleaguered PM should "Wear some tight slacks" if he wants to win the next General Election.

Dressed in a Queen's guard outfit and towering bearskin, he said of Mr Brown: "The guy needs a total makeover. He needs a fake tan, he needs to wear some tight slacks. Gordon, click those heels and say hello."

The movie is Baron Cohen's follow-up to Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan.

Former Atomic Kitten Jenny Frost, who attended the premiere, said of Bruno: "I think I'm a little bit in love."

Meanwhile, Sophie Ellis Bextor described Baron Cohen as a "really fearless comedian."

She added: "He's just going to push it and do all those things we wouldn't really dare to do."
