Emma Watson has turned on the Christmas tree lights at the opening of a winter ice rink in London.

The Harry Potter actress was joined by Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean at a star-studded opening party for the Somerset House ice rink season.

Watson turned on the lights on the Christmas tree decorated with huge blue ice skates. She said she was "absolutely delighted" to be officially performing the switch-on.

Wearing a red scarf and a black coat, she added: "I've been coming here since I was about 13 and I absolutely love it. It's Christmassy and wonderful."

Torvill and Dean took to the ice to perform a routine to Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend.

The ice rink will stay open until January 25.
