It's a bird, it's a plane and it's Victoria Beckham, who was involved in a runway scare with kids Romeo and Cruz after a bird flew into one of the craft's engines moments before take-off.

Fire crews were called to the runway to extinguish a fire in the engine.

Passengers apparently screamed as the pilot slammed on the brakes and the plane screeched to a halt.

The former Spice Girl stayed on the London-bound plane to do her make-up while fellow passengers were taken back to the terminal in buses.

She required a separate bus for her, the boys, personal assistant and bodyguard after the make-up transformation was complete.

The Beckham clan managed to take a later flight and arrived safely in the UK.

Meanwhile, a theatre company in Dublin is said to be putting together a musical called MacBecks, a show about the life and times of David and Victoria Beckham.
