Mansion fire family laid to rest

The wife and daughter of a millionaire, who is believed to have killed them, have been laid to rest.

Businessman Christopher Foster, 50, is thought to have shot dead his wife Jill, 49, and his 15-year-old daughter Kirstie before torching the family mansion and turning the gun on himself.

CCTV footage recovered from the £1.2 million property in Maesbrook, Shropshire, showed a man police strongly believe to be Mr Foster firing a rifle at a horsebox as the luxury home and its outbuildings burned, in the early hours of August 26.

It was days before the bodies were found in the charred remains of Osbaston House, such was the scale of the blaze.

The funeral for Mrs Foster and Kirstie took place at St John's Church in Maesbrook. Mr Foster's ceremony was held at the same church at 2.30pm.

Mrs Foster and Kirstie were buried in the same grave while Mr Foster was buried in a separate plot next to them.

The process of arranging the funerals is understood to have sparked a feud between Mr Foster's family and relatives of his wife.

On Sunday Mrs Foster's sister, Anne Giddings, said she wanted Mr Foster to be buried "as far away as possible" from her sister and niece.

She said: "I'm gutted to think that beast will be buried in the same cemetery as my sister and her beautiful daughter. He will be lying right next to them, just a few feet away."

Gavin Drake, director of communications for the Diocese of Lichfield, said: "The funeral arrangements have been made in consultation with the families and next of kin.

"With the unusual circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths of the Foster family, it is impossible to find a solution which will fully satisfy everybody.

"But we hope the funerals will provide a dignified opportunity for the families and friends to pay their final respects."
