Star Trek movie star Zachary Quinto said he was pleased with the reaction from hardcore fans.

Aficionados of the sci-fi franchise are notoriously hard to please, but Quinto, who plays Mr Spock, said the movie was created with the fans in mind.

He said: "They have been really welcoming with us, into this whole community and this experience.

"I think all of us approached this with the certitude that the movie was made with respect for them, but with the awareness that there are very few things over which we have control beyond our own performances.

"Their reactions were in the category of things we didn't have any control over."
