Spurs stun Liverpool

Bottom club Tottenham have turned the Barclays Premier League table on its head by beating Liverpool 2-1 at White Hart Lane.

Spurs inflicted the first defeat on Liverpool this season to rise to 18th in the league, as Chelsea knocked the Reds off the top with a 5-0 rout of Sunderland.

It had all started so well for Liverpool, with Dirk Kuyt registering his sixth goal of the season to give the visitors the lead after just three minutes.

Liverpool went on to dominate the game for the next 65 minutes, but will rue the fact that they were unable to extend their lead as Spurs struck back after 70 minutes through a Jamie Carragher own goal.

And then in the 90th minute, substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko tapped home the winner from close range to break Liverpool hearts.

It was Spurs second massive fightback in the space of three days having salvaged a draw against Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday after trailing their north London rivals 4-2.
