Tuesday's child is busy jobhunting

The most popular time for workers to apply for another job is Tuesday lunchtime, a new study has found.

Reed Employment said one in five jobseekers sent off their CV in their search for a new post at 1pm on Tuesday.

The analysis of 2.5 million jobseekers also found that November was the busiest month of the year for job placements.

The report said most firms posted vacancies on Reed's website on a Friday in the mistaken belief that people looked for jobs over the weekend.

Janine Parry, head of marketing at Reed Employment said: "November is always our busiest period for placing applicants into permanent roles.

"Companies often find they have budget still remaining and are keen to fill their positions before next year's figures are decided, and before the Christmas lull."
