Three charged with murder over arson attack

Three people, including two teenagers, have been remanded in custody charged with murder over an arson attack that killed three men.

Michelle Lambe, 35, and a youth aged 14 and another aged 17, are accused of starting the fire in a terraced house in Sheffield last Friday.

Trevor Richardson, 37, Kane McTell, 53, and Barry Nicholson, 67, died following the blaze in Albert Road, Heeley. A fourth person remains critical but stable in hospital.

The fire started downstairs in the house and quickly spread. Neighbours reported seeing two people leap through windows to escape, while firefighters in breathing apparatus pulled two others out.

South Yorkshire Police said the 14-year-old has been charged with murder, attempted murder and wounding with intent. He was remanded into secure local authority accommodation. He did not apply for bail.

The 17-year-old youth has been charged with murder and attempted murder.

Lambe, from Sheffield, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and wounding with intent.

Both were refused bail and remanded in custody. All three are due to appear next at Sheffield Crown Court on January 14.
