Hundreds of thousands party at carnival
More than half a million people packed the streets of west London for the final day of the Notting Hill Carnival.
Huge crowds gathered to experience the loud and colourful masquerade floats snake their way through the streets.
Party-goers danced and clapped to the sound of steel drums and Caribbean music while some revellers blew horns and whistles to the beat of the music.
Police estimated around 600,000 people attended the carnival on its final day.
Last year an estimated 850,000 attended.
But the carnival was marred by arrests.
Police arrested 148 people on the final day - 52 for drug offences, 21 for carrying an offensive weapon and 27 public order offences.
There were also 334 incidents of reported crime.
Chief Inspector Jo Edwards said: "The number of arrests is up on last year, but that is predominantly because of proactive policing."
Police have used stop-and-search tactics throughout the carnival and at entry points to catch potential criminals.
She said: "The message is that there is no place for knives at the carnival.
"We share the concern of Londoners over the recent spate of knife crime and we are doing all we can to combat that."
