Fuel subsidy for low-income families
The Government will issue vouchers up to £100 to help families on low-incomes with fuel bills, according to reports.
Whitehall sources confirmed that a scheme is under consideration as part of Gordon Brown's autumn relaunch.
Some six million families who receive child tax credit could get an extra £50-£100, Downing Street and Treasury sources confirmed.
It would cost the Government an estimated £600 million to pay energy companies £100 on behalf of each the families receiving child tax credit.
