Spurs and Hammers win

Tottenham Hotspur continued their good form under Harry Redknapp with a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at White Hart Lane.

Roman Pavlyuchenko scored the only goal on the ten minute mark after great work from man-of-the-match Aaron Lennon.

Blackburn had defender Martin Olsson sent off after 39 minutes for two bookable offences, both fouls on Lennon, to leave them with a mountain to climb at half-time.

Tottenham dominated the match from start to finish and only a combination of good goalkeeping from Paul Robinson and misses from Bent, Woodgate and Campbell prevented them from scoring more. Pavlyuchenko also hit the post.

Blackburn's best chance came when Roque Santa Cruz directed a difficult header straight at Gomez, who had a relatively quiet afternoon.

The win moves Tottenham up to 14th in the table, but Rovers fall to 19th after a run of eight games without a win.

In Sunday's other game Valon Behrami's first West Ham goal ended their run of seven league games without a win by defeating Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light.

The Switzerland international struck with 20 minutes gone and then passed up a glorious opportunity to make it 2-0 when he hit the bar from six yards in first-half injury time.

Roy Keane's side dominated for long periods, but were unable to make the most of their possession with striker Djibril Cisse in particular guilty of a series of misses.
