Triumphant homecoming gig for Susan Boyle
Susan Boyle was given a rapturous welcome as she took to the stage in front of home fans for the Britain's Got Talent live show in Glasgow.
There had been doubts as to whether the now world-famous singer from West Lothian would perform, after she pulled out of the same event in Manchester.
But she wowed the crowds as she belted out I Dreamed a Dream, the song which made her a global superstar.
She received a standing ovation not only at the end of her performance, but also as she walked out onto the stage and twice during the performance itself.
Fans waved home-made banners bearing the slogans "We love you Susan" and "Susan is the best".
One fan, Bryan Felvus, 23, from Motherwell in Lanarkshire, said: "She was brilliant. She had to be here tonight. She was great and deserved every bit of support she got and she got the loudest cheer of the evening."
Another, Audrey Hinde, 39, from Ayrshire said: "I thought she was fantastic. She brought tears to my eyes. She didn't seem under pressure at all."
The previous evening, concert-goers at the MEN Arena in Manchester were greeted by notices stating Boyle would not perform at either of the matinee or evening shows.
Boyle went from a quiet life to global fame after the video of her singing I Dreamed A Dream in her Britain's Got Talent audition was watched hundreds of millions of times on the internet.
But the singer was admitted to the Priory clinic after coming second to dance troupe Diversity in the TV contest broadcast on ITV1.
