Campaigners have been taking to the streets for World Aids Day.
The UN recently estimated 33 million people are infected with the HIV virus - which can cause AIDS.
In Afghanistan campaigners took to the streets and artists staged a show in an attempt to portray the real-life pain suffered by victims.
In India - the Red Ribbon Express train, equipped with educational material on the disease - travelled to local villages:
Indian Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said: "(Referring to the Red Ribbon Express train) It's going to cover about 180 to 200 stations and nearly about 50 to 60 thousand villages.
"And in each station it goes to, there are going to be the Nehru Yuva Kendra (volunteer group within the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports) volunteers who are going to go on about 60 to 100 bicycles and go into all these villages, have dramas, shows."
In Britain, the public were urged to do their part and wear the red ribbon - the international symbol of HIV for 15 years.
