Curbishley quits and Di Canio wants job

Alan Curbishley has quit as manager of West Ham and Paolo Di Canio has admitted he would like the job.

Curbishley resigned despite leading the team to victory in two of their three Premier League games this season and Di Canio would be a popular choice to replace him.

He played for Curbishley at Charlton and hoped his old manager would stay on at West Ham but the resignation could give the Italian his first taste of management.

Di Canio said: "I took the coaching badges in the summer and I would like to have a job.

"I am waiting for a job in England because my dream is to come back and I think there are a lot of good things I can bring.

"My dream team is West Ham. I keep the club in my heart. One day I hope to come back to London and sit on the bench at West Ham."
