Robert Pattinson has become a heart-throb overnight after landing the lead role in hit movie Twilight.

The 22-year-old British actor was best known for playing Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and was a surprise choice to play hero Edward Cullen in the vampire movie.

But success at the US box office means he has legions of female fans dying to sink their teeth into him.

Despite a reputation as a ladies' man (he was forced to deny rumours he proposed to co-star Kristen Stewart on the set of the film), Pattinson revealed he will probably be spending Christmas Eve out with his mates rather than on a hot date.

But at least his idea of a dream date is a romantic dinner for two rather than a trip to the cinema.
