On-the-run man 'has mental health issues'

Police say a 23-year-old man who is on the run with his teenage girlfriend, whom he met on the internet, has mental health problems.

Clare Haver, 14, was last seen with her boyfriend Michael Ellis, whom she met on the social networking site Bebo, on July 25.

Detectives described Clare as being at "high risk" as her mother pleaded with her to come home.

Schoolgirl Clare, from Bourne, Lincolnshire, has only been missing once before and is described by her 17-year-old sister Kelly-Anne as "gullible".

She returned from a camping trip at the seaside resort of Skegness with jobless Ellis last Saturday and visited the grandparent's home of a friend, who was also on the trip, in nearby Corby Glen.

Inspector Guy Leach, from Lincolnshire Police, said: "We are aware Mr Ellis has mental health issues but there is no indication that he doesn't have his medication with him. All the indications are that he has his medication with him and he is stable and does not pose a threat."
