Jim Carrey's new film A Christmas Carol opens

Robert Zemeckis returns to the 3D world with Disney's A Christmas Carol.

The legendary Back to The Future director and flagbearer of motion capture with Beowulf and Polar Express has turned the classic Dickens story into a 3D masterpiece for movie-goers.

Scrooge and the three ghosts are played by Jim Carrey, with nephew Fred faced by Colin Firth and Mr Fezziwig, the perfectly cast Bob Hoskins.

The technology will take bespectacled audiences along the thrill-filled night where Ebeneezer experiences the past, present and future Christmases of his life.

The World Premiere in London was a huge event combining the switching on of the historic London Christmas lights with a world-record breaking Carol concert drawing in 14,000 singers.

A Christmas Carol is released nationwide on November 6th.
