Rachel Stevens caught up in restaurant shooting

S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens has escaped unhurt from a shooting in a packed west London restaurant in which a 31-year-old man and 15-year-old boy sustained bullet wounds.

A gunman wearing a motorbike helmet opened fire on the pair at Harry Morgan in St John's Wood just after 9pm on Friday.

The former pop singer was among diners forced to dive for cover.

A spokeswoman for Stevens said: "Rachel and her family were in a restaurant where there was gunfire. It was very frightening for everyone there but none of the diners were hurt."

The two people who were wounded were in the delicatessen part of the restaurant buying takeaway food when the attacker opened fire.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg while the boy was hit in the arm. Both are in a stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

Police say they are keeping an open mind about any possible motive and are appealing for anyone in the restaurant at the time or who saw one or two suspects leaving the building to come forward.

    No arrests have been made.
