Donkey Kong creator talks Wii music

Riding on the success of its popular Wii console, Nintendo is launching a new interactive music video game.

One of the games developers, Shigeru Miyamoto, has been the driving force behind some of Nintendo's most beloved video games, starting with the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong.

He has been with the company for the last three decades, providing the inspiration for over 100 video games including Nintendo's latest, Wii Music.

Mr Miyamoto is also the company's senior managing director. He believes his success has come through focussing on games for the whole family.

He said: "I don't want to curb freedom of expression but I am concerned that many developers focus is on excessive violence in order to stimulate people's minds.

"I believe that there are more ways of grabbing players attention than violence alone."

Wii music allows users to try their luck on over 60 different instruments including violin, cowbell, piano, guitar, trumpet, harps, bongo drums and maracas.

It is out in time for Christmas.
