Palm Springs hosts film festival
Hollywood stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Dustin Hoffman graced the red carpet for the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
DiCaprio was on hand to accept the festival's Ensemble Performance Award for the drama Revolutionary Road, in which he stars opposite Kate Winslet.
This year's other Palm Springs honourees included many widely considered to be strong Oscar contenders.
The Changeling director and Gran Torino star and director Clint Eastwood, who showed up to take home the Career Achievement Award.
Milk actor Sean Penn and Rachel Getting Married actress Anne Hathaway, were each given a Desert Palm Achievement Award.
Hathaway said the awards season is very frantic, ending with the Oscars on February 22.
"I've decided to keep a journal about it, and write down my reflections every night. Because I know that if I don't do that now, when I look back, I won't be able to remember things so clearly. So I think that's what I'm going to do," she said.
Happy Days actor turned director Ron Howard was given a Life Achievement Award in Directing, and starlet Dakota Fanning was given the Rising Star Award.
