Budget airline Ryanair has announced it is to close its base in Valencia, Spain.

The closure, which follows a dispute between the carrier and the local council, will lead to the loss of 70 weekly flights and 750 local jobs.

The Irish carrier flew from Valencia to ten destinations including London Stansted, East Midlands and Liverpool.

Flights on all ten routes, which were used by 750,000 passengers a year, will be cancelled from November 4, Ryanair said.
