David Tennant Doctor Who fans may be hiding behind their fingers when they watch the latest special. The Waters Of Mars is being billed as one of their scariest episodes ever.

Writer Russell T Davies said: "It's a very, very intense story. Everyone is trapped. The doctor is carrying some secrets with him that he cannot tell anyone".

It was a challenging instalment to shoot for the cast. The man behind the Timelord David Tennant said: "Water is the villian in this. Filming with water is not easy because it does not necessarily hit its mark."

The Waters Of Mars also sees the Doctor with a new sidekick.

Actress Lindsay Duncan plays Captain Adelaide Brooke. David Tennant added: "She is not really a companion like the others have been. She is not the sort of person you could imagine hooking up with him and riding off into the sunset, she's kind of the alpha male in the room".

The Waters of Mars will be shown on November 15.
