Owain Yeoman is the latest British actor to win a major role in a hit US drama.

Following the success of Hugh Laurie in House and Brits Dominic West and Idris Elba in the Wire, the Welshman has become a favourite with fans of crime show The Mentalist.

Yeoman, who is married to The Office star Lucy Davis, plays Wayne Rigsby, the straight man to psychic investigator Patrick Jane.

He also has strong feelings for fellow detective Grace Van Pelt, but Yeoman says a full-on romance between the two characters would ruin the tension.

He said: "You never want to see people actually get together, because the moment they kiss its game over.

"Apparently the California Bureau of Investigation doesn't allow any inter-office romance. I don't think that will stop them - every programme benefits from a bit of sexual tension."
