Newport parody of Jay-Z track is an online hit

A take-off of Jay Z and Alicia Keys's song Empire State of Mind has become a massive internet hit.

Welsh rapper Alex Warren, singer Terema Wainwright and Director MJ Delaney have recorded their own version of the song, replacing lyrics about New York with those about Newport.

Fans have found the spoof version very funny and it has already received nearly 200,000 hits after just two days of being on YouTube.

Lyrics include: “When you're in Newport. Chips, cheese, curry makes you feel brand new, washed down with a Special Brew.”

And: “Our shopping centre is quite new, big leeks will inspire you. Repeat to fade Newport, Newport, Newport."

Director MJ reportedly said :"I hope Jay-Z and Alicia get to see the video as long as their publishing people don't force us to take it offline. It's only tongue in cheek."
