Tube strike called off
A planned 72-hour strike on the London Underground has been called off after an improved pay offer was made, a union has said.
The industrial action, which had been due to start at noon on Wednesday, was averted over the pay agreement, the RMT transport union said.
A second 72-hour strike which was due to be held on September 3 has also been called off.
The RMT had been angered by Tubelines boss Terry Morgan's comment that the union was mounting a "political" strike.
