Lottery winners speak of their £45 million jackpot

An unemployed mechanic who said he is lucky to be alive after beating cancer, has spoken of his joy at scooping the UK's largest lottery prize.

Les Scadding and his wife Samantha Peachey-Scadding, who live in Caerleon, near Newport, South Wales have won £45,570,835 on the EuroMillions draw.

The 58-year-old had been out of work since last Christmas and was £68 overdrawn on his bank account on the day he bought his lucky ticket in the EuroMillions.

Meanwhile, a group of office workers have been speaking of their joy after winning the same share of the UK's biggest ever lottery prize.

The seven-strong syndicate, all based in Merseyside, all work for Hewlett Packard carrying out IT work at a BT office in Liverpool.

The group includes John Walsh, 57, James Bennett, 28, Sean Connor, 32, Alex Parry, 19, Emma Cartwright, 23, Ceri Scullion, 35 and Donna Rhodes, 39, who have each banked £6.5 million.
