A video game premiere has taken place in London's Leicester Square for the controversial blockbuster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Gaming fans enjoyed all the usual trappings of a film launch on Monday night, including a star-studded carpet, camouflage rather than red to reflect the nature of the game.
British actors Kevin McKidd, Craig Fairbrass and Billy Murray all voiced parts in the sequel, which is expected to sell three million copies this week in the UK alone. Other voice actors include US rapper Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson.
Modern Warfare 2 is expected to smash all box office records set by Hollywood films, including the Dark Knight, which took £95 million in its opening weekend.
Games publisher Activision have already experienced massive success with the first Modern Warfare title but has caused controversy by raising the recommended retail price of the new title by over £10.
The game has also attracted criticism for its content. One mission in which the player accompanies a terrorist shooting civilians at an airport was singled out by MP Keith Vaz, who called for the game to be banned.
