A Christmas Carol world premiere

Wed Nov 4 2009 09:43:24

Jim Carrey Robert Zemeckis and Disney's A Christmas Carol premiered for the first time in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday night in a typically Christmas scene.

That was not where the seasonal festivities ended though. In conjunction with the fiftieth annual switch on of the Christmas lights stars of the film Jim Carrey, Bob Hoskins and Colin Firth flicked the switch at Oxford Street, Regents Street and St Pauls for the Christmas Carol themed decorations.

To top the evening off, Andrea Bocelli lead 14,000 Londoners in song as they collectively broke the World Record for group carol singing.

The stars then walked the red carpet before attending one of three screenings in cinemas around the famous square.

Zemeckis is the flagbearer of 3D animation with motion capture movies Polar Express and Beowulf under his belt but A Christmas Carol is widely considered the most realistic and entertaining three dimensional film ever released.
