Doherty 'separated in jail for safety'

Pete Doherty has reportedly been segregated in jail amid claims his fellow inmates plan to attack him.

The troubled singer is currently serving a 14-week sentence in Wormwood Scrubs, west London.

He was jailed for breaching the terms of his probation, having appeared in court several times charged with drugs offences.

Photos of the 29-year-old recently appeared in a newspaper and showed him sitting in his cell wearing a blue T-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms, and talking to other inmates on a landing.

His solicitor, Sean Curran, said the singer had been segregated for his own safety, but he could not verify whether it was because fellow inmates were plotting against him.

The Prison Service declined to comment on the location of individual inmates.
