Camden Market goes up in flames
Firefighters have been battling a massive blaze at one of London's most popular tourist attractions.
Flames were seen shooting 30 feet above Camden Market in the north of the capital after what the authorities described as a "major fire" broke out.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said 20 fire engines were sent to the market following a 999 call.
About 100 firefighters were deployed to bring the blaze under control.
Fire fighters struggled to evacuate the area around the market, which is packed with bars and restaurants, on a busy Saturday night.
The fire is thought to have begun at a market stall near the canal and spread to surrounding buildings including the Hawley Arms pub, a favourite hangout of celebrities like Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss.
No casualties have been reported.
London Mayor Ken Livingstone said: "Yet again the emergency services deserve our thanks for the speed and professionalism with which they have responded to tackle the blaze."
