Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and US basketball player Tony Parker have tied the knot in a Paris church.

The half-hour service came 24 hours after Texas-born Longoria, 32, and Belgium-born Parker, 25, married at a civil ceremony in a Paris town hall.

But there was disappointment for hundreds of fans after guards kept them well away from the 12th century church located across the road from the Louvre museum

Red coaches then shuttled family and friends - including Longoria's co-stars Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman, actors Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones and Jamie Foxx and singer Lionel Richie - to a 17th century chateau outside Paris.

Parker's San Antonio Spurs team-mates and sports stars including French soccer player Thierry Henry are expected to attend the lavish reception.

The chateau has previously hosted the wedding of Indian steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal's daughter, said to be the most expensive of all time at a reported £27 million.

Newspapers have claimed its gardens will be lit by 2,000 candles and a spectacular firework display is also planned.

The couple joined thousands of others around the world in getting married on 07/07/07 - a date that many believe will bring them good luck.
