Police appeal to Rhys' killer
A police chief said he is "confident" he knows who killed Rhys Jones - and he will be apprehended.
The 11-year-old was shot in the neck by a youth on a mountain bike as he walked home from football practice in Croxteth, Liverpool, on August 22.
In a radio interview Merseyside chief constable Bernard Hogan-Howe reiterated appeals for the killer to give himself up.
"If the person is listening, we are confident we know who you are and are building a case against you."
The chief constable said: "People will have to judge us by the circumstances as they develop over the next few weeks and months.
"We will get the person who committed this crime."
Police have previously indicated they have an idea of the killer's identity and the main task continues to be gathering sufficient evidence.
They are still trying to trace a woman in a red car and a boy on a silver bike they believe could be key witnesses.
